Take a boat trip to Iguana Island. Whilst in T&C our cousin organised a half day boat trip to a snorkel spot and then to Iguana Island, a beautiful deserted island home to wild iguanas. It was great to see the beaches from the water and experience more of the island.
Chalk Sound. Chalk Sound is a body of water at the south of Providenciales. It’s a beautiful turquoise blue lake
Go to the Fish fry on a Thursday night. Every Thursday night Bight Park hosts the weekly fish fry. Local restaurants host food stalls showcasing local cuisine including deep fried conch, coconut shrimp, roast corn, rice and beans etc. The local ice cream parlours also bring food trucks and local vendors set up stalls. There were jewellery, soap, trinkets and photography stalls. It starts at 6pm and goes on late. At approx. 9pm the Junkanoo arrive; they are a traditional Caribbean band that dress in bright colours and play amazing rhythmic music. It was great to see a bit of Caribbean culture in what is otherwise appears to lack a cultural identity.
Head to the Coco Van at the Coco Bistro restaurant. It’s a super cute and fun permanent food van that serves up really nice Mexican food. My favourites were the grouper tacos, shrimp mac and cheese balls (probably not that Mexican) and the churros with chocolate sauce. You order, take your number then grab a picnic bench and sit surrounded by the palm trees and fairy lights.
Snorkel in Coral Gardens. This is a really cute beach side snorkel spot. The main body of coral is protected and cordoned off but we swam around the rope and saw some lovely fish as well as a turtle and a ray.
