The Colonial Parkway is a stretch of road that connects Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. It is a tourist highway designed to show off the beautiful scenery and marshland in the area. Yorkville consisted of several civil war battlefields, which is not my mum or I’s main interest. Williamsburg was a nice little town and there was a recreation of colonial Williamsburg there. Jamestown was really beautiful. We arrived into Jamestown just as the site was closing but you are welcome to go and explore the sight until the sun goes down. The place was very tranquil and quiet; it sits right on the Estuary. Jamestown drew us in as the site where Pocahontas was captured and taken from her tribe and married John Rolfe. There is a statue of her at the site. The area was also full of wildlife. As we drove around we saw countless dear and saw many birds of prey; it is a nesting ground for the American Bald Eagle although we didn’t see any of these. The tranquillity and beauty of the area really struck us and I think we ended up being very lucky arriving once everyone else had left for the day.
